Team Spotlight: Alana Buie
What interests you about the Girls on the Run mission?
Girls on the Run may encourage lifelong attention to physical health, but running is just the tip of the iceberg. The programs also help girls develop all-important mental habits like empathy and confidence. Plus, participants bring their own thoughts and priorities to the forefront while they have fun.
Why do you think it's so important for girls today to have access to this program?
Young women are a fantastic resource, yet often tragically underutilized. Girls need to know they are capable of accomplishing great things, and communities need their influence and intentional action.
What are some of your hobbies or interests?
I love hiking as well as visiting botanical and sculpture gardens. At home, I play with my rescue cats and dog, knit, and experiment with cookie recipes.
